Protection to Tomato Wilt Disease Conferred by the Nonpathogen Fusarium oxysporum Fo47 is More Effective Than that Conferred by Avirulent Strains

چکیده

Although the vascular pathogen Fusarium oxysporum is notorious for being causal agent of wilt disease, vast majority F. strains are harmless soil and root colonizers. The latter oxysporum’s often endophytes colonizing roots intracellularly without negatively affecting plant fitness. Actually, most them, like Fo47, beneficial providing biological control to various pathogens. Interestingly, also pathogenic inoculated on a resistant host (i.e., avirulent f. sp. lycopersici) can reduce susceptibility virulent via mechanism called “cross protection.” It has been hypothesized that cross protection based activation resistance protein upon recognition cognate avirulence (Avr) pathogen. Currently, it unknown whether biocontrol activity utilizes similar mechanisms as conferred by pathogens, both provide quantitative level protection. Here, we show in tomato Fo47 endophyte lycopersici more effective than induced activating either I, I-2, or proteins Avr1 Avr2/Six5 pair, respectively. These findings imply utilize different subsequent infections.

Myocardial protection conferred by electromagnetic fields.

BACKGROUND It has been reported that electromagnetic (EM) fields induce stress proteins in vitro. These proteins have been shown to be important in recovery from ischemia/reperfusion. It was, therefore, hypothesized that EM fields could activate stress responses in vivo and protect myocardial tissue during anoxia. METHODS AND RESULTS Chick embryos were exposed to 4-, 6-, 8-, and 10- microT an...

Genetic protection against hepatitis B virus conferred by CCR5Delta32: Evidence that CCR5 contributes to viral persistence.

Recovery from acute hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection requires a broad, vigorous T-cell response, which is enhanced in mice when chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) is missing. To test the hypothesis that production of a nonfunctional CCR5 (CCR5Delta32 [a functionally null allele containing a 32-bp deletion]) increases the likelihood of recovery from hepatitis B in humans, we studied 526 persons from t...

Ancient origin of pathogen recognition specificity conferred by the tomato disease resistance gene Pto.

We have investigated the origin of the Pto disease resistance (R) gene that was previously identified in the wild tomato species Lycopersicon pimpinellifolium and isolated by map-based cloning. Pto encodes a serine-threonine protein kinase that specifically recognizes strains of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (Pst) that express the avirulence gene avrPto. We examined an accession of the distan...

Serological correlates of immune protection conferred by Chikungunya virus infection.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), an Alphavirus of the family Togaviridae is a positive strand RNA virus that is transmitted commonly by the Aedes mosquitoes. The characteristic clinical symptom of the virus infection is incapacitating arthralgia that could persist for few weeks to several months in the affected individuals (1, 2). High morbidity with severe polyarthralgia, rashes and ocular, hemorrha...
